Why does Ultram make me rather high? I am sensitive to pain medication, and this stuff lasts forever and ? is great. Why switch though, I like it.

The one and only Jolene replied: "Ok I never heard of Tramadol making you high? Basically, it's tramadol and something else. Usually, people don't have any side effects on this. Maybe that feeling is being caused by something else? I would call your doctor and tell them and maybe they can switch to something else."

Aily S replied: "Tramadol used to make me totally buzzy and spaced all at the same time. In fact, it used to do a lot of things bar kill any pain (lol). Maybe you should speak to your doc, you don't want to get addicted to this kind of stuff..."

squeakyweal replied: "I have heard of this happening, but despite considerable experience with Tramadol myself have never felt anything but a mild tingling, and for a relatively short time at that. I don't find it to be very effective, somewhere between acetaminophen (useless, and toxic) and ibuprophen (useful for certain types of pain). While it does mimic the action of opiates and binds to certain opiate receptors, there's no evidence that it's addictive itself. I guess if people are feeling "high" after taking it, there's some potential for psychological addition."

Why do I like Ultram? The doctor said it was non habit forming, and doesn't get you high? Why does it get me high?

Tsunami replied: "it is habit forming and hes nuts duh?"

kilo28 replied: "It is habit forming and will get you high"

danamf replied: "i dont know why some doctors say this but it is a form of opioid.2 50 mg are capable of producing as much euphoria as vicodin. The reason it is not controlled is beceause it is an atypical narcotic ...not a true narcotic but works the same way as one.see it dosent have to be narcotic to produce the high. Some docs treat ultram the same as any other habit potential drug and others do not. I guess it depends on there opionin. It is habit forming but the docs dont get hassled by the DEA for prescribing ultram I have heard laws may be going into effect to change ultram to a scedule 2 controlled substance"

Gov't Mule replied: "It's in your head. It happens a lot. I see other answers that say it gets you high,,,,they are wrong, I was a heroin, methadone, cocaine, opiate addict,,,it doesn't get you high!! That's why doctors give it out. I've given baby aspirin to people and told them it was something else and they thought they got high,,,lol Your brain has the greatest drugs built in, all the things that you do to get high only release them,,but they are already there to begin with and you can fool yourself to release some of them sometimes And yes it is habit forming,, I'm surprised your doctor told you that. Here the actual info on it. Tell your doctor he needs stop checking out the hottie that is giving out drug samples and stocking his office with ads for drugs and pick up that blue book on his desk that says PDR and read it. You need to find a new doctor my friend. This is cut from pdrhealth.com If you have stomach problems such as an ulcer, make sure your doctor is aware of them. Ultram may hide the symptoms, making them difficult to diagnose and treat. Ultram can cause mental and physical addiction. If you've ever had a problem with narcotic painkillers such as Percocet, Demerol, or morphine, you should avoid this drug. Withdrawal symptoms may occur if you stop taking Ultram abruptly. Such symptoms include anxiety, sweating, insomnia, pain, nausea, tremor, diarrhea, and respiratory problems. A gradual decrease in dosage will help prevent these symptoms. BETTER KNOWN AS WITHDRAWL SYMPTOMS!!! Do not take more than the recommended dose of Ultram, since larger doses have been known to cause seizures, especially if you have epilepsy or are taking medications that also increase the risk of seizures. Among such medications are almost all antidepressant drugs, plus narcotics and major tranquilizers such as Loxitane and Stelazine. If you have liver or kidney disease, be sure your doctor knows about it. Your dosage may have to be reduced. Before you have any kind of surgery, make sure the doctor knows you are taking Ultram. If you have any kind of breathing problem, use Ultram with caution or take a different kind of painkiller. Ultram can impair respiration, especially if taken with alcohol. If you have experienced a head injury, consult your doctor before taking Ultram. The medication's effects may be stronger and could hide warning signs of serious trouble."

Why is Ultram making me high? I'm taking it for a tooth ache, and it's making me constantly high, even at a low dose. It reminds me of a more peaceful version of Valium.

cherry replied: "Maybe you're more sensitive to it."

Marissa&Mike replied: "It isn't a narcotic like vicodin is. It is a lot weaker & it isn't a controlled substance. I'm not sure why its making u high but they arent supposed to. U might have a low tolerance to pain pills & that could be the reason"

How Many Ultram/Tramadol To Get High? I currently have 50mg pills.

greta m replied: "they are given in order for you not to get high. they do not get you high!"

j. replied: "Listen to minor threat"

Ultram/Tramadol does it show up in urine or hair follicle testing? Drug testing employees and wondering does this drug show in standard panels? And is there a high prevalence or likliehood of abuse?

pescador replied: "probably but they are looking for opiates trmadol works like an opiate but it is not one"

I just took a 20mg methadone, I've high tolerance to meds, and it's not helping. Can I take morphine or ultram? The morphine pill is low dose, and the tramadol is 50mg each (and my tolerance to them is HIGH!!! I just don't want them interacting in a bad way. Okay, I am sure I could call A doctor, since it is Sunday and he isn't at work, but the past two that I have called have told me to just wait until Monday and talk to my doctor, since they cannot give information like that out over the phone. I was just prescribed the methadone Friday for pain, and feel like the Tramadol I have been on works better than it, and my PRESCRIPTION morphine definitely works better. I started methadone with the hope that it would work better, but no luck so far. Now I have 6 morphine pills left and just want to know if they or the tramadol would have a dangerous interaction, because I would love to be able to move around right now. Thanks.

bob k replied: "Ultram is like taking an aspirin. Are you in a lot of pain or bragging that you take drugs. If you're sincere, you would call your doctor."

bananafish6726 replied: "I've taken methadone and oxyxontin for a spinal fracture, but not morphine. Personally, I would be afraid you might OD since all you can do is guess what your exact tolerance is. I know your're in pain, but I would wait about 8 hours for the methadone to start to wear off before taking anything else."

qtpie20121 replied: "OMG, I just saw your post...DO NOT TAKE ULTRAM WITH METHADONE! IT IS DANGEROUS....VERY DANGEROUS! Here is a copy of a report from a CNN report... Last month, an Arizona jury awarded $6 million to the family of Eric Warren, a 31-year-old insurance agent and high school wrestling coach who died of a toxic drug interaction in 2002. A Walgreens pharmacist failed to counsel Warren about the danger of simultaneously taking the two drugs — methadone and tramadol — and also failed to double-check the prescription with his doctor, court filings by Warren's family charged. The alleged failures were violations of Walgreens' safety procedures, the family charged. It can cause you to go into severe withdrawal at the minimum. Please be aware that many people overdose also on methadone because they do not understand that when they take it and the pain does not go away it is not ok to take more! Methadone can be a wonmderful medication when used properly but a nightmare if taken the wrong way. The problem is it stays in your system long after the effects wear off 2-3days. so each dose is accumulating in your system. Doctors have been warned to start patients at doses lower than what will work for them and gradually increase them. However, they are suppose to explain to you the dangers of taking more. A dose of your morphine would be safer than more Methadone or Ultram. I know you did not mention taking more methadone but I felt the need to let you know how dangerous it could be. Please don't take the Ultram though."

DIOCHICK replied: "my neurologist gave me methadone, plus percocet 10 4 times a day plus soma 4 times a day. i would say you're safe. oh yeah, it was 30 mgs of methadone, but 10 mgs. 3 times a day."

dizzyA replied: "I think if you're still in pain you can take morphine and methadone, methadone will block what little euphoria morphine has, but, I don't think it'll block the analgesic effects of the morphine. I'm confused as to why you're doctor prescribed it if you're still in pain, I haven't heard of anyone getting methadone until they're pain management is over, and they need to get off their opioid meds."

Don't laugh, but Ultram makes me high, and hyper active, it gives me motivation and decreases my appitite.? Everyone says it's a light weight medication. It's for my back, but psychologically it has become even more than that now. And doctors hand it out like candy. Is this a bad thing if my grades are not suffering while on it, and I am able to sleep at night? Even nurse practioners can prescribe it. And it's like a rush of bliss for me. And it's long lasting.

? replied: "You can get addicted to the drug, also make sure you dont overdose too."

Rachel C replied: "sounds like an addiction! stop taking it before its too late."
